
The Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) is hereby advising
firearm licence holders, whose surnames begin with the letter "C" and
whose licence(s) have exceeded five (5) years, to contact the FLA immediately
to schedule an appointment to begin the re-certification process.
Such holders whose surname begins with the letter "A", "B", "U", "V", "X", "Y" or "Z" and who have not completed the recertification process should contact the FLA IMMEDIATELY to complete the process. Failure to complete this process may result in the revocation of your Firearm Licence. [Every licence shall continue in force for five years from the day on which it was granted - Section 34 of the Firearms Act].
On the day of the interview, firearm holders will
be required to submit the following documents:
A. Two (2) Application Forms (FLA001A). Forms are to
be completed in the applicant's own handwriting. Where available,
a valid secure email address should accompany each application.
B. Three (3) passport-size photographs certified by a Justice of the
Peace. The Seal should indicate the Justice of the Peace's
registration number.
C. Recommendations from any two (2) of the following categories of persons:
Minister of Religion, Justice of the Peace,
School Principal, Attorney-at-law, Medical Doctor or Resident Magistrate.
D. Proof of age (passport or birth certificate) and Fingerprint Receipt
As part of the interviewing process, each individual will be fingerprinted
and their firearm(s) balistically tested. Owners of shotguns, however,
will not have ballistic tests conducted on their firearm(s).
Application forms can be obtained at the Firearm Licensing Authority
at 12-14 Worthington Terrace, Kingston 5; all regional offices of the
Inland Revenue Department; or on our website www.fla.gov.jm
